Tom Harrison, who goes by the name of Mr. Gorilla, has just crawled the London Marathon on hands and knees to raise money for The Gorilla Organization! This amazing challenge took Mr. Harrison six-and-a-half days to complete the 26.2 miles and to-date he has raised an amazing £39,000 - significantly higher than his target of £1,750.
The 41-year-old Met Police officer started at 10.34 on the morning of Sunday, April 23rd and crossed the line 6 days later at 11.45 on Saturday 29th. Tom was crawling on average for 10 hours per day, spending the evenings sleeping at friends' houses.
We had the great privilege of meeting up with Tom at mile 20 to show him our support and give him a pair of our Banana Blues bamboo socks. If you want to donate to this amazing effort please visit Tom's just giving page.
The policeman has taken part in numerous fundraisers dressed in his gorilla costume for the same cause and we are sure to be seeing him again in the future. Please do take the time to take a look at his just giving page and take a look at his twitter feed @GorillaSaver for some awesome pictures!
