How to Wear Colorful Socks: 3 Tips To Raise Your Sock Game

So how do you wear yours? An old fashioned gentleman would tell you that the rule of thumb for wearing socks is simple: match your socks with your trousers. However, this view has shifted over the last decade as gentlemen have started to express their personality through accessories and in particular socks. The all important choice of which socks to wear, their so called “sock game”, has become a way to make a subtle but impactful fashion statement.

Not everyone feels confident enough to wear bold socks. Some feel uncomfortable with the bright colors or are just unable to match them correctly with their outfit. If you google “how to wear bold socks” you will find a myriad of articles explaining how, why and when to wear socks. So to make your life easier, we have kept this as concise as possible. Here are some practical tips for the modern gentleman:

Keep an eye on the level of contrast with the rest of your outfit

Contrast is important in fashion - matching the wrong colors can make all the difference between looking dapper or looking like a circus clown! Make sure to wear the same color through your entire outfit. Try to pair your socks with your watch strap or with your shirt. Sun glasses which have a shade which matches your socks can be a real statement too. Better still, choose your bamboo socks and then build your outfit around them.

Stand out and be bold

It has been demonstrated that the use of colors can evoke certain emotional behaviors. Psychologists explain that certain colors can help or hinder certain tasks. So what colors should you wear? Blue seems to be the most loved whereas brown is the least popular. So be sure to stay away from these two colors if you feel like standing out! Express your personality through your color choice. If you are an extrovert use a strong pair of red bamboo socks and never look back again. Do people refer to you as the smart kid in the room? Then yellow is the intellectual color. Balanced men wear green as it makes them look smooth. Be positive when wearing your favorite colorful bamboo socks and decide what message you want to convey. But most importantly, do not be scared of standing out!

Wear socks that help others

You could of course wear any type of socks but if socks make a statement about who you are, then choosing socks that support a cause seems like a fair choice. There are many companies out there that support specific causes from supporting homeless, less fortunate kids or animal conservation. At Gorilla Socks our focus in on the latter and through our partnership with the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International we pledge to support the conservation of the African gorilla by donating at least 10% of all our profits to the NGO.

Conclusion

Wearing bold bamboo socks for some can be daunting - some people are scared of sending out the wrong message. Yet, paring your eco-friendly bamboo socks with your outfit is simple and rewarding. Your colors can make you stand out from the crowd and provide an insight into your personality. As they (or we!) say, socks maketh the man so head on over to Gorilla Socks and up your sock game!
