Giving Tuesday - Time To Dig Deep!

Tuesday November 29th is #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving back fuelled by the power of social media. This year, we are supporting the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund to raise $50,000 through #GivingTuesday to increase the number of protected Grauer's gorillas in Congo.

Grauer's Gorillas

Grauer's gorillas are considered one of the 25 most endangered primates in the world and will likely be extinct in 5-10 years unless we drastically increase their protection. To do that we need your help! You can make a donation to the campaign of even better, start your own fundraising page:

Grauer’s gorillas, which live only in the Democratic Republic of Congo, have suffered from two decades of severe instability and neglect and are considered one of the world's 25 most endangered primates.

In the last 20 years, their population has plummeted by almost 80%.  With perhaps as few as 3,800 Grauer's gorillas remaining, they will be extinct within 5 to 10 years if current trends continue.

Grauer's Gorillas

The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund is on the ground 365 days a year providing an unprecedented level of protection in Congo. The fund's success with mountain gorillas in Rwanda is a model that can work for Grauer's gorillas too.

Because 60% of Grauer's gorillas live in unprotected habitats, the fund know that daily protection is the key to conservation success, for this reason they are dedicating this Giving Tuesday to raising $50,000 to increase the number of gorillas they can protect in Congo.

As always, you can continue to support the amazing work of the Dian Fossey Fund by buying Gorilla Socks' bamboo fiber socks! Check out our homepage for the perfect stocking fillers this festive season.
